Luxury home sales across the U.S. are showing remarkable range and depth right now. Recent data from a listings platform highlights just how varied these top-tier transactions are—prices for the biggest deals span from $3.7 million all the way up to a staggering $130 million, depending on the metro area. That $130M sale set the high-water mark, with other top closings at $47M, $40.2M, $40M, $21.2M, $19M, $18M, and $17.5M. Interestingly, four markets stood out for having even their fifth-priciest sale above $10M, which speaks to how deeply luxury runs in those areas’ pricing. One city saw its five most expensive public sales range from $24M to $40M, showing a tight cluster at the upper end.
These figures are based on publicly listed properties, so private or off-market deals aren’t captured—and in nondisclosure states, the top numbers reflect list prices rather than final sale amounts. Having spent decades managing portfolios and advising clients on high-value investments, I always pay attention to these patterns. They reveal both opportunity and nuance, especially for those considering a move into the luxury space or looking to understand how elite properties are performing in different markets.
