Arizona came in 34th for overall livability, according to a recent ranking that considered 51 indicators—from housing costs to hospital quality. For those of us who know the state inside and out, these numbers offer some interesting context: affordability was ranked 23rd, quality of life at 21st, but areas like economy (39th), education and health (37th), and safety (43rd) lagged behind. States like Idaho and New Jersey topped the list. As someone who’s worked across Arizona’s markets for over three decades, I’ve seen firsthand how these stats reflect both our challenges and our real opportunities—especially when navigating everything from affordable housing programs to investment portfolios. I always encourage clients and investors to look beyond the rankings and dig into what really matters for their specific goals here in Arizona.
